The Haitian Project

The Haitian Project was founded in the early 1980s by St. Joseph's Parish in Providence, RI, to provide humanitarian aid and relief to the people of Haiti. Louverture Cleary School began as a response to one of the greatest needs of Haiti: education. Once a school with a handful of students and big dreams for the future, Louverture Cleary School has now grown to feed, house, and educate 350 bright and enthusiastic students from the poorest neighborhoods of Haiti.

In response to their free education, LCS students are active leaders in service to their community. Each day, students can be found cleaning their neighborhood, caring for sick and orphaned children and disabled adults, and challenging the notion that theirs is a country devoid of hope. LCS students receive a top-notch education - a tool that will help them as they seek to rebuild Haiti. The Haitian Project operates by a simple and powerful motto:

"What you receive for free, you must give for free" (Matthew 10:8).

The Children’s Scholarship Fund

CSF is committed to advancing education reform efforts nationwide. Until all children have access to a quality education, we will continue to provide scholarships to families in need so they can choose the private school that best meets their children’s needs.

CSF scholarships provide children with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed. CSF empowers families with both the financial resources and the information they need to choose the right school for their children. All CSF families pay a minimum of 25 percent of their tuition each year, making them fully invested in their children’s education. One hundred percent of every dollar donated goes directly to funding scholarships..

Education Can End Poverty.

According to the US Census Bureau, the national poverty rate is around 12.3% or 39.7 million Americans. The South makes up 8 of the poorest states with Tennessee ranking as the 12th state with the highest poverty level. Sadly, poverty is not something that can be fixed overnight; however, there is one key that can unlock the generational cycle of poverty within the United States and other countries – education.

Fighting poverty through education and community service

Dedicated to change.

There is no doubt education and poverty are linked. Educational achievement even at the high school level reduces food insecurity, improves personal health, and provides economic opportunities. By Fighting Poverty Through Education and Community Service, we can help children improve academically and and also instill in them that no matter what obstacles they may face today they can still grow to be leaders in their communities. It is important to help those in need excel in school, and equally important to teach them how they can give back to their communities in hopes these children will then strengthen their impoverished communities from within by staying and giving back.
